How to Rank Up in Legacy Piece: F to SS Rank Guide

Three things called “rank”

Searches for “rank up” in Legacy Piece run into three separate systems that all use the word:

SystemValuesRaised by
Player rank (this page)F → D → C → B → A → S → SSLevelling
Prestige rankSilver, Platinum III/IV, Emerald IV…Prestiging at the cap
Fire Force rankCadet → LieutenantMission Board clears

When an NPC refuses to sell you a weapon, it is the first one. Prestige is covered on the progression page; the Fire Force ladder is on the Infernal Ambusher page.

How rank goes up

The Player Level & Ranks card says it in one line: ranks are raised by leveling. There is no rank-up NPC and no rank quest — you gain EXP, your level rises, and the letter follows. So the practical answer to “how do I rank up” is the levelling route: claim the kill-count quests first, farm the highest mob you can kill in one rotation, and use the highest-EXP quests on the board.

One quest card complicates the picture. Defeat World Boss 5 Times (from Potential Man, after Conqueror Trial 3) pays Rank EXP 1,000–5,000 alongside its Shards, which implies rank has its own EXP track. The board never reconciles the two statements, and it does not publish the level at which each letter is reached. Both facts are stated here as the board gives them; the numbers are not filled in from guesswork.

What each rank unlocks

The rank gate on every card that has one, collected in one place:

Rank neededUnlocks
BArima, Zenitsu (weapons); Akaza, Garou, Kaneki (styles); Blast (ability)
SAizen, Starrk (weapons); Gojo (ability); Abyssal Karate (style)
SSShinra, Benimaru (abilities); Chihora, Gebura (weapons); Dio’s The World

Each of those also wants a quest, a race or a material bill on top — Arima needs Human race and the Arima Quest, Abyssal Karate needs Ancient Fishman, Gebura needs The Red Mist title. The rank is the first door, not the only one. Full requirement columns are on the weapons, abilities and styles pages.

Rank B is where the game opens: five crafts become available at once, which is why the beginner guide treats it as the first real milestone.

Rank S and Rank SS

There is no separate requirement for S or SS beyond level. What changes is the cost of what they unlock — the Rank SS specs are the most expensive on the board: Benimaru $70,000,000, Shinra and Gebura $50,000,000 each, The World $25,000,000 after the Bloodline Trials, Chihora $15,000,000 across two steps — most with a boss title attached. Reaching SS early does not shortcut those farms. If you are levelling specifically for SS, plan the material grind in parallel: the Fire Force guide and the Chihora route both take longer than the levels do.

Prestige and rank

The Prestige card says prestiging “grants ranks, passives, and total stat buffs” and raises the base level cap of 1,500 by up to +1,180 per prestige rank. It also describes prestige as a progression reset, and it does not spell out whether your letter rank survives the reset — so buy the rank-gated crafts you are saving for before you prestige, not after. Details are on the progression page.
