Legacy Piece Infernal Ambusher: How to Spawn It and Drops

What the Infernal Ambusher is

The Infernal Ambusher arrived with update 1.0, the Fire Force patch, and the board simply calls it the Infernal Boss. It is not a world boss and it is not on a timer you can camp. It is an ambush: you walk into a spawn point and the fight comes to you. That is why “how to spawn infernal ambusher” is the question everyone asks — the boss list never shows it.

The fight exists to feed the two Fire Force specs. Everything Shinra needs, and most of what Benimaru needs, comes from this one enemy. The specs themselves are covered in the Fire Force guide.

How to spawn it

  1. Go to 7th Company Island and talk to Captain Burns at the Fire Fighter Company. This opens the three intro quests.
  2. Find 3 cats around 7th Company Island. The board confirms cats spawn on this island; the community guides add that they sit near the loudest music and wobble sideways, which makes them easy to spot.
  3. Free 5 hostages at Ruin City. Hostages stand along the roads; interacting spawns a wave of enemies, and once they are dead you carry the hostage back to Captain Burns.
  4. Survive 3 ambushes. Ambush points appear on 7th Company Island, Ruin City and A-City. Enter the red circle and press E — the Infernal Ambusher spawns on you.

After the third ambush the Mission Board unlocks at Captain Burns, and you can keep triggering ambushes to farm. Two of the three community guides describe the spawn exactly this way; the Roonby write-up instead says the boss “appears based on the server timer”. The board and the majority of sources describe the ambush-point mechanic, so treat the timer version as unconfirmed.

Damage rules

The update card publishes the boss’s resistances, and they decide your loadout:

Damage typeEffect
Water2x damage
Firenormal damage
Everything elsereduced by 70%

Bring a Water-element kit. Several weapons on the weapons table are Water — Arima, Aizen and Starrk among them — and any of them beats a stronger non-Water build here. The community guides put the boss at 12,288,480 HP, which is a long fight at 30% damage.

Drop table

The board lists which materials the Ambusher drops but not the rates; the two media guides publish the in-game card, and they agree with each other line for line.

DropRate
Company Badge93.7%
Ember Fragment93.7%
Fire Force Chest75%
Infernal Core56.2%
Infernal Ash45%
Flame Heart22.5%
Ancient Infernal Core15%
Adolla Burst Core13.1%
The Devil Hero (title)3.7%, pity at 80 kills
Shinru Outfit1.9%
Adolla Blaze0.2%

Shinra’s bill is Ember Fragment ×100, Infernal Core ×100, Infernal Ash ×100, Flame Heart ×45 and Adolla Burst Core ×15. At the rates above, Adolla Burst Core is the bottleneck — roughly 115 kills on average for 15 of them — so the Fire Fighter Company Shop and Fire Force Chests are there to buy out the last few.

The Devil Hero title

The board is clear that The Devil Hero comes from the Infernal Ambusher, and the drop table gives it 3.7% with a pity counter at 80 kills. Deltia’s Gaming additionally says the title is awarded for finishing the Captain Burns questline; SportsRant says the questline awards King of Asakusa instead — which contradicts the board, where King of Asakusa is a Demon Infernal drop. Until the board says otherwise, plan on the 80-kill pity as the guaranteed route. All titles are on the titles page.

Company Badges and Fire Force rank

Company Badges drop almost every kill and are also the Mission Board’s reward currency. They buy items at the Company Badge store, and clearing missions raises your Fire Force rank through Cadet → Recruit → Second Class Fire Soldier → First Class Fire Soldier → Lieutenant. That rank is separate from your letter rank — Shinra and Benimaru still need Rank SS regardless of your company standing.
